Award Winning Canadian Documentary About The Energy Rush In NW Canada
Peace Out, the feature documentary about Northwestern Canada’s Hydro Mega project, Shale Gas Fracking, the Nuclear proposal, and the Tar Sands, a film that critics are hailing as passionate, fair, balanced, and breathtaking is coming to Edmonton’s Metro Cinema Theater this week.
Director/writer Charles Wilkinson (Down here, The Highlander, The Working Director) and producer Tina Schliessler (Bushwhack, The Dragon) self-financed this micro-budget feature documentary that’s been awarded the prestigious ‘Special Jury Prize’ at Toronto’s Hot Docs where it sewed up world distribution agreements. The film was honored at the 2011 Vancouver International film festival where it won the NFB Most Popular Canadian Documentary, at the 2012 Available Light film festival where it won the Audience Choice Award, it was the official opening film at the 2012 Global Visions film festival in Edmonton. Peace Out, released nationally by IndieCan Entertainment Inc. has been screened in theaters across the West, and has recently been picked up by both Super Channel and Air Canada.
Audiences all across North America have been gob-smacked by the scale and pace of what’s going on up in our back yard. They’ve also been captivated by the highly unusual no-blame, ‘we’re all in this together’ approach taken by the film.
